Earlier this week the aviation industry lost one of its best known personalities. Capt. Eric ‘Winkle’ Brown passed away aged 97. Famed for flying a record 487 types of aircraft, he was the Royal Navy’s most decorated pilot. The Helitech International team will remember him fondly for the passionate and highly-informative presentation he gave at the event last October.
Brown was the Chief Executive of the British Helicopter Advisory Board, where he had a vision to create a nationwide network of heliports and promoted the air ambulance and police helicopter services. He advocated the acquisition of all-weather helicopters and simulators, while he also helped found the European Helicopter Association.
He was a true legend of the aviation industry and the rotorcraft community will miss his presence and unrivalled knowledge of aircraft.
